Seated chest press is a great alternative to flat barbell bench press. You can substitute bench press with this exercises from time to time, or in case of an injury, you can most likely continue to train your chest with this movement. I advice beginners to do this exercise always as a third complex movement in the chest routine on a regular basis, while sometimes changing the order and perform it as a first out of three multipoint exercises.
